How we fill about Ai in the workplace: Will AI Replace Your Job? | Future of Work & AI Skills- AI in the workplace

Updated: Feb 25, 2025

Let's Talk AI In The Workplace

Let’s talk about something that’s on a lot of people’s minds—AI and job security.

A recent survey from Resume Now found that 9 out of 10 workers are worried about losing their jobs to AI. That’s a big number. And it’s not just some distant “maybe in 20 years” kind of fear—43 percent of workers already know someone who’s lost a job because of AI.

That’s real. That’s happening right now !

And it makes sense. AI is showing up in every industry—automating tasks, analyzing data, even writing reports. For some, that’s exciting. For others, it’s straight-up terrifying.

So, What’s Really Going On?

The survey paints a clear picture:

  • 44 percent of workers expect AI to take over some of their tasks within five years.

  • 20 percent believe AI could significantly reduce their role.

  • And beyond job loss, 63 percent worry that AI will introduce bias in hiring and promotions.

  • But here’s the part that really stands out: Workers don’t feel prepared.

  • More than half say their employers aren’t fully transparent about how AI is being used.

  • Only 38 percent feel truly supported in adapting to AI-driven changes.

  • And over a third say they lack access to AI training.

In other words, people don’t just fear AI taking their jobs—they fear being left behind.

The Flip Side: AI is Here, So How Do We Adapt?

It’s not all doom and gloom. Despite the fear, workers are taking action.

  • 55 percent are researching AI skills on their own.

  • 42 percent have enrolled in AI courses.

  • And—get this—over two-thirds are already using AI to help with resumes and cover letters.

That tells me something important: People don’t want to be replaced. They want to evolve.

What Needs to Happen?

Employers can’t just throw AI into the workplace and hope for the best. Workers are demanding transparency, training, and support.

  • 55 percent want a clear roadmap for how AI is being used.

  • 50 percent want a say in how AI is integrated into their jobs.

  • And 48 percent want better training to stay competitive.

And let’s be honest—that’s not too much to ask.

The Big Takeaway?

AI isn’t going away. It’s already reshaping the workforce. But fear doesn’t have to define this transition. If employers step up and provide the right tools, and if workers stay proactive, this can be an opportunity, not just a threat. Because here’s the thing: AI doesn’t replace people.

People who know how to use AI replace people who don’t.

So, the real question is: How are you preparing for what’s next?
