“AI slop” is what happens when we hand our thinking over to a tool—drop in a half-formed idea, accept whatever comes out, and hit send like it’s automatically you. And listen… I love AI. I use it. But AI is a draft partner, not your brain, your voice, or your judgment. If you’re using it to write an email, craft a policy, respond to a sensitive employee situation, or communicate with leadership, you’ve got to slow down and make sure the final message actually matches what you meant. That means editing with intention: tighten the language, correct the tone, check for accuracy, and “pick apart” anything that feels generic, risky, or not aligned with your values.
Especially in HR, the human touch isn’t optional—it’s the whole point. We’re dealing with people’s lives, livelihoods, emotions, and trust. When we rely too heavily on automation, we don’t just risk sending out bland or incorrect communication—we also start losing our own professional muscle: critical thinking, empathy, discernment, and real connection. So use AI, but don’t let it use you. Keep your authenticity at the center, stay accountable for what you publish, and remember: the more you protect your voice and your people-skills, the harder it is for any tool to “automate you out” of your career.
